Last night, i met up with few friends from NID over dinner and all of us ended up watching "The Dekalog" by the Polish director Krzysztof Kieslowski (of "the three colors trilogy" fame).......
Kieslowski found inspiration in the 10 commandments, and made a series of films exploring each one........ naturally, this is some heavy stuff.......in some cases, it's really heavy stuff.
The series is Kieslowski's most acclaimed work.....typically for Kieslowski, the tone of most of the stories is meditative and melancholy except the last one which is more of a black comedy......
I've seen and enjoyed the color trilogy (blue, white, red) , the double life of veronique, a short film about killing and a short film about love by Kieslowski in the past but Dekalog has been by far the best........a true masterpiece……

Hi Bharat,
I am Devashish batch of '97, which is not the reason why I am posting this comment. You are possibly the 3rd person I know of who is familiar with Kieslowski and even though I have only seen White & Red (rest being unavailable here) I am a tremendous admirer of the man & his work.
Keep up the good work on the blog and I will keep contributing my comments.
PS: Do check out some vintage Kurosawa & Kubric if you have not already.
Devashish: hi..thank u for stopping by.....i have seen each and every kurosawa and kubric movie....altho am not a big kubric fan......i still find eastern european movies to be better than american and japanese movies combined.......ofcourse,its a personal point of view.....
Well you have already seen a lot but still my randomly recommended ones would be marx brothers, buster keaton, Cohen brothers, David Lynch, South park, Gafla, Ripley's game, Grave of firflies, the apartment, Chinatown, One flew over the cuckoo's nest (most of nicholso's stuff),MASH (the movie by Altman),irreversible,....enough more later.
Devashish: I have seen most of the movies you have mentioned....infact i saw them years back.......now i dont study the filmmakers or the actors, i am a student of cinema (movies)......i have seen a lot (i mean A LOT)of arthouse and mainstream movies and the movies you have mentioned are for beginners.....i suggest u start downloading Inde movies to expand your horizon........
