Being Cyrus - A Welcome Change

Saw Being Cyrus last nite.....the movie brings out the dark sides of some seemingly ordinary characters who eventually go to unbelievable lengths to achieve their goals....we need more movies of this genre....

Came to know from some newspaper that the movie has been re-edited by Jon Harris who edited Guy Richie's cult classic Snatch........

Naseeruddin Shah is at his best and Boman Irani's performance is simply superb.....But Manoj Pahwa takes the cake as Inspector Lovely.....funny funny funny...

A Must Watch !!!

In a Gondola - Robert Browning

one of my fav poems.....i find this one really sensuous.......

In a Gondola
by Robert Browning

The moth's kiss, first!
Kiss me as if you made believe
You were not sure, this eve,
How my face, your flower, had pursed
Its petals up; so, here and there
You brush it, till I grow aware
Who wants me, and wide open I burst.

The bee's kiss, now!
Kiss me as if you enter'd gay
My heart at some noonday,
A bud that dares not disallow
The claim, so all is rendered up,
And passively its shattered cup
Over your head to sleep I bow.

Crash - Absolutely Fantastic

just came back after watching much talked about movie Crash.....this is what you call good cinema ....several stories interweave during two days in Los Angeles involving a collection of inter-related characters...many of the scenes display racism, but the focus is on an incident before that triggered emotions such as rage, fear, and hatred.....a must watch....

Dilli Haat

went to dilli haat yesterday.....love the food there.....

One Art - Elizabeth Bishop

One Art

The art of losing isn't hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother's watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn't hard to master.

I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster.

---Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident
the art of losing's not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

i carry your heart with me - e.e. cummings

i carry your heart with me

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

-e.e. cummings
